It’s almost unbelievable how many online resources allow you to learn for free. It’s been one of the most important and functional benefits of the internet. While you won’t get the deep learning that you’ll experience in person with an instructor or mentor, online learning is a great way to upskill and put you in a position to land that dream job. While it’s nice to have all these options available to you from the comfort of your home, you still want to make sure these courses are worth your time and effort. For that reason, we’ve taken the time to curate some of the top free online courses that can help you upskill and get ready to impress your future employers.
This is a 12-course lecture that can be viewed on YouTube or even iTunes. It prepares students to “build appropriately through analysis of landscape and climate for a chosen site.” This undergraduate course also teaches students the skills they’ll need to “build within a landscape establishing continuities between the built and natural world.”
This course can be completed in approximately 10-15 hours and includes lessons on “exposure settings, reading histograms, learning about light, how sensors and lenses work, and how to post-process photos.” The goal of this course is to take the average camera phone photographer and elevate their skillset.
It’s not a stretch to say that learning about self-care and your personal well-being has become mandatory. This course “will engage [you] in a series of challenges designed to increase your own happiness and build more productive habits.” As you set about looking for your job, it’s important to make sure you are taking care of your mental health. This course is a step in that direction. Note, you will have to purchase the certificate to gain access to all course materials.
UX has become more than just a buzzword. It’s now a full out concept that puts the user at the heart of everything we design. In this course, you will learn “the main concepts of effective user-centered content design.” You will also learn all about prototyping and journey mapping and why it’s important to the process and have opportunities to connect with other students in the course.
This course is super interesting. Machine learning is all about tapping into the world of AI. It’s programming machines to learn without having to explicitly program every action. Think self-driving cars or voice recognition. In this course, you’ll learn the theoretical and practical knowledge to apply “effective machine learning techniques.”
Hubspot is a treasure trove of free content. This course is one of several you can take just on this topic. Being able to communicate to consumers, build email lists, automate and segment those lists and do all of that while remaining compliant are just some of the lessons you’ll learn in this free beginner’s course.
This class is being taught by a former Wall Street Journal Editor, so you know you’re getting top quality lessons that can be applied to the real world. You’ll be introduced to the four elements of great writing, plus understand how writers create “powerful prose.” This course is designed to help your writing stand out from the rest.
